Svalbard

Terms of use

Last updated 10 October 2026

The short version
  • Svalbard helps you make invoices and estimates. What goes on them, and any tax you charge, is your responsibility.
  • Your clients pay you directly. Svalbard doesn't handle that money.
  • Subscriptions are billed and renewed by Apple. Cancel in your iPhone's Settings at least 24 hours before renewal.
  • Keep iCloud on, or keep your own copies of important invoices.

About these terms

These terms are between you and the developer of Svalbard, an independent developer based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates ("we", "us"). They apply when you download or use the Svalbard app. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If the two conflict, these terms apply to the extent the law allows. Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.

Svalbard is a tool for running a business. By using it, you confirm you're at least 18 and using it for your trade, business or profession.

What Svalbard does

Svalbard lets you create, store and share invoices and estimates, record payments your clients have made to you, and print your own payment instructions (such as Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal or check details) on your invoices.

Free use, trials and subscriptions

You can send a limited number of invoices and estimates for free (currently five). After that, sending requires a Svalbard Pro subscription. The free limit may change, but we won't reduce anything you've already sent.

Your data and backups

Your data is stored on your device and, if you're signed in, in your own iCloud account (see the privacy policy). We can't access, restore or recover it. We work hard to keep the app reliable, but devices get lost and syncing can fail, so keep iCloud switched on and keep copies of invoices you need for your records. Sending or exporting the PDF is an easy way to do that.

Fair use

Don't use Svalbard to create fraudulent or misleading invoices, to impersonate another business, or to break any law. Don't try to copy, reverse engineer or get around the app's subscription checks, except where the law says you may.

Our app

We own Svalbard, its name, design and software. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it under these terms and Apple's licence. Your business details and invoices belong to you.

We may update the app, add or change features, or stop offering it. If we ever withdraw Svalbard completely, we'll give reasonable notice where we can, and your existing data will stay on your device and in your iCloud.

Liability

Svalbard is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise it will be error-free or always available, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, unpaid invoices or lost data. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Svalbard in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, you also keep your statutory rights.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Svalbard at any time by deleting the app and cancelling any subscription. We may suspend or end your use if you seriously break these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We'll change the date at the top, and if a change significantly affects you, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the applicable federal laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Abu Dhabi have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, you keep any protections your local law gives you that can't be overridden by agreement, and you can bring a claim in your local courts where the law allows.
